Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) #153712

Supervised by Christina Mathieson, LMFT #115093

Trauma-informed therapy for women healing from childhood sexual abuse, complex trauma, and what a lifetime of carrying other people's weight does to the nervous system. I also work with neurodivergent clients and trauma that intersects with grief, anxiety, or chronic overcompensation.

Who I work with

I'm Jalyse Stewart, AMFT #153712, supervised by Christina Mathieson, LMFT #115093. Here's who I work with: women healing from childhood sexual abuse and complex trauma, especially BIPOC clients whose experiences have been flattened or pathologized in less culturally-aware rooms. I work with people whose anxiety, reactivity, grief, or disconnection is rooted in what the nervous system is still holding, even when the words haven't caught up to it yet.

Before I became a therapist, I taught special education. That shapes how I work now. If you're neurodivergent and also processing trauma, I understand that layer. I know the exhaustion of overcompensating, and the way grief and anxiety weave themselves into everything else without you realizing. The work is holding it all, not treating the pieces separately.

What I want you to know: your story doesn't have to be explained before it can be met.

My approach

Here's how I work. I use EMDR to reprocess trauma at the place it's actually stored, IFS to meet the parts of yourself you've had to hide or harden, somatic practices for what the body has been quietly carrying, and CBT and solution-focused tools for the practical work in between.

For neurodivergent clients, I adjust the pace and sensory setup so therapy isn't one more room you have to mask in.

Something clients often tell me: my presence is disarming. I think that's because I'm not rushing to the next thing. I'm listening for what you haven't quite said yet. What I want you to know: you don't have to have the words before you come in. We'll find them together.
